From a young age, I traveled extensively– including the U.S., where I now call home. Photography was always in my blood, with my mom was a hobbyist, and my dad a filmmaker.
Surprisingly enough, I can trace precisely where my ardor for weddings began. One evening decades ago, my Oma and I stayed in a chic hotel in Paris. A storybook wedding was taking place downstairs; it seemed the entire hotel was alight with festive excitement and joy. Already dressed in my nightgown and about to fall asleep, the string orchestra’s melody echoed from the ballroom below through our open window.
Originally from Europe, I spent my childhood amongst the refined culture and architecture of the great capitals of the world.

Meet SVENJA
We tiptoed down the carpeted stairs to glimpse the lace and intricate beading of her beautiful wedding gown. After a quick spin on the dance floor, we returned to our room– all without being discovered!
That magical moment became a lifelong memory that inspired my love for romance and weddings. I still feel this level of excitement each time I see a bride emerge in her gown on her big day.
From that formative memory, I was inspired. I fell in love with dreamy film imagery and picked up my first camera more than thirty years ago, capturing my childhood travels, life, and family through the classic medium of film photography.
I pleaded with my Oma– incredible woman that she was– to walk me downstairs so I could see the bride in all her finery.

To me, film has always held that certain 'je ne sais quois' – even the simplest moments feel deeply special when captured on film. There’s a depth, softness, and dreaminess to film photography that cannot be replaced. Although I photograph my weddings in both film and digital, I favor this classic, gold standard of photography because it produces a simply magical result.
There is something exquisitely special and authentic about film images. Each detail matters, and when you look back on your photos, you will feel every emotion, each timeless moment of love, eternally.
